Nikolov raised a lot of noise in the volleyball world by accusing Enisey Krasnoyarsk of giving him illegal substances as pain-killers, but the Russian club claims that none of that is true!
“Complete nonsense!” said Enisey Krasnoyarsk head coach Yuri Cherednik. “I do not know why he said that. The player was constantly looking for reasons not to play. Our sport is difficult and there is not a single team on the planet in which everyone are healthy. Still, everyone try to play, they try to recover as quickly as possible… Not Nikolov though. I do not want to talk about the reasons he refused to play, he the point is he just did not want to. No one was giving any forbidden medicine.”
