That’s why she was brought to VakıfBank: Italian superstar Paola Egonu led her team to a four-set win over Fenerbahçe Opet in the Round 4 derby of the 2022-23 Turkish Women’s Volleyball Championship.
Egonu dominated the Misli.com Sultanlar Ligi derby between VakıfBank and Fenerbahçe. The Italian opposite scored 33 points (32/52 attack) and dragged her teammates, along with Zehra Güneş (5 blocks), toward a win in Round 4 of the 2022–23 season. The side coached by Giovanni Guidetti won 3-1 to take revenge on the ‘Yellow Angels’ for losing the Turkish Super Cup two weeks ago. VakifBank are still a ‘member’ of a trio of the teams with full points and a 4-0 record with the surprising Galatasaray HDI Sigorta and Eczacıbaşı Dynavit, who top the standings having the best set ratio. Twenty-eight points from the new star of Russian volleyball, Arina Fedorovtseva, weren’t enough for Zoran Terzić’s ladies.
