The first set was really close but Unendo Yamamay was sidelined by a very low efficiency in attack (25%). Calderon and Gioli paced Galatasaray with 8 and 5 points in this section of the match contributing to the break that paved the way for the final 19-25. The hosts stepped up in the second set, especially with their block and serve, with Kozuch helping going for the 1:1.

Galatasaray set the pace of the game all the way through in set 3 as Calderon and Gioli were simply not to stop, with the final point being pocketed by Özsoy (22-25).

BUSTO ARSIZIO tried to extend the match to the tie-break well supported by Kozuch but the guests from Turkey fought their way back and could eventually close it helped by some errors committed by Unendo Yamamay (20-25).

We could not really stand the attacks of Calderon and Özsoy and our offense was not good enough tonight” said Unendo Yamamay head coach Carlo Parisi.

They have been more aggressive than us and they believed in their chances more than we did” stressed Christina Bauer.

This is a great victory and we played a good match, especially in defense. I also want to say that to play in this arena with all these fans is truly exciting” said Galatasaray captain Eleonora Lo Bianco.

We limited our mistakes, especially in defense, and I am happy because we have scored a good win against a great team like BUSTO ARSIZIO” said Galatasaray head coach Massimo Barbolini.
