TUR M: Huge blocking display help Ziraat preserve invincibility, Halkbank win without duo of stars, Arkas prevail in derby battle

The team from the Turkish capital achieved the seventh victory in as many matches! İnegöl Belediyespor can brag to be one of a handful of teams that tore a set off Ziraat this season but could not do much more as their rivals made 20 kill blocks! The Pole Dawid Konarski topped Ziraat for the seventh time in the 2017/18 Efeler Ligi Regular Season with 20 points, including 5 kill blocks, while the middle blocker Vahit Emre Savaş made 7 kill blocks (18 points in total, 85% attack!). Konarski’s compatriot Bartosz Kurek still did not make his debut for Ziraat but found himself in the match protocol for the first time in a while. The Albanian Gazmend Husaj highlighted İnegöl with 15 points.

Defending champions Halkbank Ankara won the third match in a row as they beat TKD Kuzey Enerji Gümüşhane Torul Gençlik in straight sets on the road thanks to 18 team kill blocks of which Faik Samet Güneş made 9! Interestingly, although Serbian Nemanja Petrić and Brazilian Lucas Lóh did not play, the Cuban Fernando Hernández was not the best scorer for Halkbank today, unlike previous Efeler Ligi encounters. It was Abdullah Çam with 15 points.

Arkas Spor İzmir won the derby of Round 7 to notch the fourth consecutive triumph. They swept İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi Spor Kulübü thanks to 14 points from the Cuban Michael Sánchez Bozhulev. Baturalp Burak Güngör topped İstanbul BBSK, who had as much as 17 players registered for the match, with 12 points.
