It’s a huge success when you dethrone Brazil from the World Grand Prix, especially when you manage to do it after their two consecutive titles in the competition. American staff knows that winning GP is something special…

“We knew it was important to serve tough so that we could make our job easier to break down their offense. Christa Dietzen and Foluke Akinradewo did a tremendous job in organizing our defense. Ten minutes after the match somebody told me the simple math that we were undefeated and everybody else have two losses at a minimum. I told the team – congratulations, but we have a lot important work to do against China,” US head coach Karch Kiraly stated for FIVB.

“I thought we were lined up on our attackers really well. Our pin hitters – Karsta, Kim, Kelsey and Kelly, when she came in the match, they were always in the right spot and I thought they made it tough on Brazil,” American captain Christa Harmotto-Dietzen said after the match of Round 4 in which United States secured gold medal.
