GP: Italy outplays Japan in tiebreaker, fights for medal in last round (VIDEO)

Italian national team had 0-2 win and loss ratio on the start of the Final Six in Omaha, but after two consecutive triumphs it has a chance to step on a podium in the World Grand Prix 3-2 (20-25, 25-20, 28-30, 26-24, 24-22).

Italy prevailed in 157 minutes of a tiebreaker battle against another Asian team in two days, Japan, in which they canceled nine match balls.

Just like versus China in the previous round, Indre Sorokaite and Miriam Fatime Sylla were the most efficient players in Italy, now both scoring 17 points.

In the always competitive and snappy Japanese team, Saori Sakoda had 27 and Yurie Nabeya 24 points.

In the last round, Italy will face Brazil and winless Japan will play against Russia.
