The guests opened very aggressively and with a solid reception (6:8) before Stade Poitevin started playing better as setter Nuno Pinheiro benefited of a more consistent defense.
POITIERS got to the front with the spikes of Milos Culafic (15:10) and eventually maintained that margin up to the end (25-18).
Set 2 was hardly fought with the gap never going beyond the three points.
After a tie at 8 all, Jean Philippe Sol restored the leadership of the home side (15:13) and even though POITEVIN stayed a little faulty, the Czechs did not profit of this opportunity and the set was sealed by Culafic (25-23).
The third set was also much disputed and Radek Motys was the one that opened the lead for the guests (19:22) with the players of Stade Poitevin having eventually to surrender (23-25).
POITIERS got back on track in set 4 as the Czech reception lost consistency and dictated the tempo there (14:10, 20:15) to pocket the game and a well deserved qualification for the Playoffs 12 finishing second to Pool leader Bre Banca Lannutti CUNEO.
“The score is not so important to me” says local mentor Olivier Lecat. “We have set high goals in this competition and I have to congratulate my players for having achieved this goal”.
