Poland: Men’s national team honored in the Polish Olympic Committee

The title of the Team of the Year 2011 has been given by the Polish Olympic Committee to the men’s volleyball national team, which in the past 12 months took 3rd place at the World League and the European Championships, as well as the 2nd place at the World Cup.

The last place granted the team promotion to the forthcoming next year’s Olympic Games in London.

The statuette has been taken by coach Andrea Anastasi and manager of the national team Huber Tomaszewski.

On Monday, the 9th of January, the headquarters of the Polish Olympic Committee were a place of meeting of the whole Polish Olympic Family.

Many well-known champions, olympic medalists and presidents of particular sport federations arrived at the ceremony.
 
Andrzej Kraśnicki, President of the Polish Olympic Committee gave speech. He shortly summed up sport achievements of the past year (including 11 medals of the World Championships and 23 medals of the European Championships in Olympic competitions).

A. Kraśnicki stressed that in comparison to the previous ‘pre-olympic’ years (2003 and 2007) in 2011 the total result was little worse.

Whereas the olympic games performances (in Athens and Beijing) resulted in ten medals. Maybe this time we will also manager to continue that tendency…
