Uralochka caught a good start in the first set and quickly claimed a margin of 5-6 points that was maintained up to the very end even though RC CANNES attempted a late comeback. The second set was extremely close with teams playing point for point and RC CANNES having the upper hand in the end (25-23). Uralochka then imposed its tempo in set 3 with Alexandra Pasynkova, Evgenia Estes and Irina Zaryazhko delighting their home fans (25-21) for what looked a pretty promising 2:1 lead for the local side. However, Uralochka suffered a “cold shower” in set 4 where RC CANNES played superbly (25-12) and then stretched momentum to the tie-break cashing a massive 15-3 to pocket its pass for the Playoffs 12, while Uralochka is relegated to the Challenge Round of the 2013 CEV Volleyball Cup.
“It was tough for us to find our rhythm, especially right from the start, after the long journey we had to travel to Ekaterinburg” says RC CANNES captain Victoria Ravva. “However, halfway through the game we got momentum and performed at our best. We were much more effective in the second half of the game and this brought us this much desired success”.
