Tauron MKS Dąbrowa Górnicza member Eleonora Dziękiewicz will finish her rich volleyball career in the Polish Women’s Volleyball Championship (OrlenLiga) match for the fifth place against ŁKS Commercecon Łódź, on Friday, April 7.
A 38-year-old mddle blocker struggled with knee problems in the current season (averaging 52% positive attack), which made it difficult to show her full potential and speeded up her decision to retire.
On a club level, Dziękiewicz won three national titles in Poland with three different clubs (2006/2007 Winiary Kalisz, 2009/2010 BKS PROFI CREDIT Bielsko-Biała and 2011/2012 Atom Trefl Sopot), two Polish Cups (2007 Winiary Kalisz and 2009 BKS PROFI CREDIT Bielsko-Biała), one CEV Cup gold medal (2013 Polski Cukier Muszynianka) and one Polish Super Cup (2013 with current team).
As a member of the Polish NT, Dziękiewicz did not manage to take the gold medal but won bronze in the 2009 CEV European Championship, taking part in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Individually, she was announced Best Blocker of the 2007 FIVB World Grand Prix, and 2007 OrlenLiga MVP.
