As Montenegrin coach Kolaković explained in a brief statement on our website, Gholami was removed from the Iranian National Team by his decision but it did not happen during the ongoing Asian Championship, as it was initially reported, but at a training session during the preparations for the 2018 FIVB World Championship.

Iranian Volleyball Federation has sent its U23 national team to the Asian Champs in Surabaya, Indonesia, where they were under the guidance of Argentinean Juan Manuel Cichello and got eliminated in the quarter-finals by the hosts (Kazakhstan and Japan will fight for the gold medal), while their senior squad conducts preparations, led by Kolaković, in Tehran and has just departed to Istanbul, Turkey, to play two friendlies (against Turkey and Bulgaria) before starting to compete in the Asian Qualifiers – Pool A (on August 10-14 in Ardabil, Iran) for the World Championship in Italy and Bulgaria.
