Two of the last four 2nd leg encounters of the 2018 CEV Men’s Volleyball Champions League Qualifications – 3rd Round have brought an immense excitement as they went into Golden Set.

The Finnish titleholders Ford Store Levoranta Sastamala (ex-VaLePa Sastamala) nearly spoiled an excellent impression from the 1st leg against the Czech side Jihostroj České Budějovice when they ran over the rivals in straight sets. But, in the rematch on the road, VaLePa suffered a 3-1 defeat and had to fight for the place in the pool stage of the Champions League in the Golden Set. Luckily for them, they took it by a 15-12. Urpo Sivula scored 17 points for VaLePa while Filip Křesťan made 27 for České Budějovice.

Just like VaLepa, the Serbian champions Vojvodina NS Seme Novi Sad also dropped a 3-0 win against Spacer’s Toulouse VB from the 1st leg but unlike the Finnish side, their fate was sealed in the Golden Set, 15-10. The Spaniard Andrés Villena was unstoppable in the squad of the French team with 33 points, pushing it to the pool stage. Božidar Vučićević notched 15 points for Vojvodina.

An Italian giants Sir Safety Conad Perugia (Aaron Russell 13 points) and the Polish bronze medalists Jastrzębski Węgiel (Damian Boruch 11 points) swept their rivals Shakhtior Soligorsk from Belarus and Omonia Nicosia from Cyprus in the rematch, upgrading confident 1st leg victories, and advanced to the pool stage.

So, since all 2nd leg matches od the 3rd Round of Qualifications were completed today, this is the list of 20 teams that will participate in the 2018 CEV Champions League – Pool Stage (5 pools of 4 teams):

The participants on the basis of ranking list for European Cup Competitions (12): Zenit Kazan and Dinamo Moscow (Russia), Diatec Trentino and Cucine Lube Civitanova (Italy), Halkbank Ankara and Arkas Spor İzmir (Turkey), Zaksa Kędzierzyn-Koźle and PGE Skra Bełchatów (Poland), Chaumont Volley-Ball 52 (Frace), Knack Roeselare (Belgium), Berlin Recycling Volleys (Germany) and PAOK Thesssaloniki (Greece); participants who secured their place through Qualifications (8): Lokomotiv Novosibirsk (Russia), Sir Safety Conad Perugia (Italy), Fenerbahçe İstanbul (Turkey), Jastrzębski Węgiel (Poland), Noliko Maaseik (Belgium), VfB Friedrichshafen (Germany), Ford Store Levoranta Sastamala (Finland) and Spacer’s Toulouse VB (France).

BRA W: American setter officially in Barueri

She couldn't refuse such an offer, with such a trainer as Ze Roberto is lucky! Cool have a team at Hinode Barueri. Star on the star. Reply

Zaytsev to join Milano in the summer? Club president: “We must carefully evaluate the pros and cons”

Re: @dee jae69
Have you watch or seen the statistics of the final of Champions League?
Ivan Zaytsev with 14 pts 11 spikes(60% kill with only one fault)
Atanasijevic with only 9 pts 6 kills(32% 4 faults)

Conclusion:
Let's get rid of Zaytsev. Just funny. lol Reply

Zaytsev to join Milano in the summer? Club president: “We must carefully evaluate the pros and cons”

Re: @dee jae69 Check their wins. How many gold medals they have with Leon? How many gold medals they achieved without him? Zenit Kazan will be in bit trouble against the other heavyweights in Russia and Europe. With him on your side they dominated everyone besides Sada Cruzeiro until last year.
Anderson is getting old. He is very mediocre nowadays. He is not important to Zenit Kazan anymore. Only his serve is good. Mikhailov will soon be at his thirties. Poletaev may be good but he needs to prove himself in another club while Mikhailov still reigns supreme as Russia's best opposite.

Atanasijevic's contract will end this year. Same as Zaytsev. One of them will leave if Wilfredo Leon signs a contract with Perugia
Atanasijevic should leave. He chokes in crucial moments. I'd rather have Zaytsev who plays with all his heart, a more reliable player in the end game and a complete player with all the skills in the world a player could ask for. He is also a better team player.
