The collaboration of Gido Vermeulen and the Egyptian Volleyball Federation (Evbfegypt) ended after only three months.
Vermeulen and the Evbfegypt had one of the shortest volleyball collaborations we’ve heard about. The Dutch expert was appointed the African country’s men’s national team head coach in May. Now, only three months after that, he left the post. Vermeulen himself explained the reasons for this on Twitter.
“With pain in my heart I’m forced to leave the position of head coach of the National Volleyball Team of Egypt due to a serious different opinion with the Federation of the selection of the team and selecting the players’ lists for the tournaments,“ he posted.
This was Vermeulen’s second term as Egypt Men head coach as he was at their helm between 2019 and 2020.
