Iranian sportsmen mobilized to allow the new star of the country’s men’s volleyball Amin Esmaeilnejad to play abroad.
The debate on the future of the revelation of the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Nations League, Amin, who seems to have received offers from important clubs from the Italian SuperLega and Polish PlusLiga heated up. The 25-year-old opposite hitter’s performance in the three weeks of the preliminary round of the VNL was so good that it attracted a lot of interest. Amin finished in second place in the ranking of best scorers behind the Dutchman Nimir Abdel-Aziz. Despite this, the new star of Iranian volleyball can’t go abroad due to the existing law in the country. In fact, Amin still has one year of military service left and next season he’ll have to move to a military team. He has already spent one year of his military obligation playing in Shahdab Yazd, helping them win their first-ever national title, and for the next year, he’s expected to go to Gorgan Pass. All in all, Amin is legally not allowed to play overseas.
However, many volleyball enthusiasts and fans of this sport in Iran believe that this is the best time for Amin to play in a great league and, perhaps, become a global superstar. In this regard, the former middle blocker of the Iran National Team, Adel Gholami, launched a campaign on Instagram, asking for support from the world of volleyball and sport in general in regard to this.
