Algeria’s path to the final saw them clash with the formidable Libyan team in a pulsating semi-final. Both teams were unbeaten heading into this matchup. The game lived up to its billing with both teams giving their all. The fierce battle extended to five gripping sets, ultimately seeing Algeria clinch a hard-fought victory with a score of 3-2 (18-25, 25-15, 33-35, 25-22, 15-11). Despite Ahmed Ikhbayri’s impressive 37 points for Libya, it wasn’t sufficient to earn them a spot in the final. For Algeria, Soufiane Hosni shone with 27 points, aided by Boudjemaa Ikken’s 24 and Billel Soualem’s 15 points.
On the other hand, the host nation, Egypt, showcased their dominance in a compelling semi-final against Cameroon. Egypt came out on top with a 3-1 win (25-13, 25-23, 20-25, 29-27). The match witnessed moments of high tension and drama until the end. Ahmed Shafik’s stellar performance of 23 points, supported by Reda Haikal’s 21 and Mohamed Moustafa Issa’s 12, led Egypt to the final. Yvan Arthur Kody stood out for Cameroon, accumulating 21 points.
Fans are eagerly awaiting the grand final on September 13, where Egypt and Algeria will battle for the championship title. Meanwhile, Libya and Cameroon are set to compete for the third place and the bronze medal.
