In the latest clashes held in Pool C of the Olympic Qualifiers in Łódź, Poland, powerhouses Germany, Italy, Poland, and USA emerged triumphant.
Kicking off the day’s event was Germany’s nail-biting win against Korea. Ending at 3-2 with sets (25-13, 25-21, 23-25, 22-25, 15-7), Germany maintained their unbeaten streak with this third win. Standout performances from Lena Stigrot and Lina Alsmeier saw them contribute 20 and 18 points respectively.
Following suit was Italy, who overcame Thailand 3-1 (25-19, 21-25, 25-22, 25-18). This win was significantly bolstered by Ekaterina Antropova’s stellar 34 points. Supporting acts from Anna Danesi and Elena Pietrini, with 14 and 12 points respectively, further propelled Italy’s victory. On Thailand’s end, Wipawee Srithong led with 13 points.
The hosting nation, Poland, didn’t disappoint their home crowd, achieving a 3-0 win over Colombia (25-21, 25-21, 25-13). Polish sensation Magdalena Stysiak was the game’s top scorer, racking up 19 points. On the Colombian side, Dayana Segovia shone with 12 points.
Wrapping up the day, the United States triumphed over Slovenia, ending with 3-1(25-13, 25-13, 20-25, 25-13). This win fortified their undefeated status in the tournament. Andrea Drews and Chiaka Ogbogu stood out with 12 points each, while Kathryn Plummer added 9 for the Americans. Representing Slovenia, Mija Siftar topped with 14 points, closely followed by Masa Pucelj’s 10.
