Foreign players “beat“ the Chinese Volleyball Association (CVA) and will play the next men’s championship of this Asian country.

The war between the CVA and foreign players seems to have been resolved, Volley News reported.

According to the unofficial information – which also lacked when it comes to the initial decision to ban foreign players to participate – the governing body of Chinese volleyball pulled back its decision to reserve the 2020/21 men’s national championship (Super League) only for domestic players. Allegedly, the opposition of clubs and the fear of legal and sporting consequences – affected foreign players had announced an appeal to the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) – pushed the CVA to change its course.

The dates of the next edition of the men’s championship aren’t yet clear, but it’s known that the “bubble“ formula (like in the NBA) of all teams being accommodated in one place, training and playing at one venue, will be applied. The duration of the Super League will be about two months.

The information on whether the women’s championship will be held with or without the participation of foreign players is yet to come.

Great news on the Men’s Super League. The Women’s you referred to in the news is actually not the same with the Super League though. It is a separate tournament roughly called National Championships where the provincial teams compete for the top honour. Women’s Super League won’t start until much later. If foreign players are allowed in Men’s tournament, then it only.makes sense the same would apply to the women’s. Let’s keep our fingers and toes crossed!
