POL M: Wilfredo Leon – “It would be dangerous to play in front of the fans…”

The Cuban-born star Wilfredo Leon has talked about the current situation in volleyball.

He has said that it would be difficult to play in front of the fans because it can lead to a dangerous situation since someone positive on corona may enter the arena without even knowing it.

Letting the fans enter the arenas would be very dangerous nowadays. Each of us has a family relatives or elderly people in our environment that need to be protected. It is safe until one of us gets sick and now the risk is too high,” says Wilfredo Leon for Przeglad Sportowy.

Wilfredo Leon - a big respect for such a statement... Very rare, reasonable and sober opinion in this complicated, pandemic situation.. He thinks on older, and vulnarable persons.... I expect that also other top world athletes, coaches, officials will join such a proclamation... But it is not enough without specifying and keeping complex, preventive, epidemiological measures on volleyball courts, halls ... Better not comment what we could still observe on them..

CHN M: Chinese federation gives in to pressure, male foreigners will play Super League

Great news on the Men's Super League. The Women's you referred to in the news is actually not the same with the Super League though. It is a separate tournament roughly called National Championships where the provincial teams compete for the top honour. Women's Super League won't start until much later. If foreign players are allowed in Men's tournament, then it only.makes sense the same would apply to the women's. Let's keep our fingers and toes crossed! Reply
