Which national teams do you consider as favorites at the World Cup to qualify for the 2016 Olympics in Rio and which might come as a surprise?
„I think that teams that are in the top of the world ranking have the greatest chance: Italy, Russia, USA and Poland. Firstly, I think that these four teams have the best chance because of their previous performances. Secondly, thay have more good players in their squads. In the World Cup, you play 11 games in a short time and for that you need to have a long bench. But, I would add two more teams that might be dangerous: Iran and Argentina. Maybe these two could make a surprise in the World Cup,“ Castellani started to explain.
Which players will be among candidates for the MVP award?
„The MVP wil be from the team that will win. Each of those four teams has one top player. For example, in the USA, the most important is Anderson. I think, in Italy, Juantorena could make the difference, Tetyukhin in Russia, while Poland has Kubiak and Kurek.“
How do you estimate the chance of your home country, Argentina?
„It’s going to be difficult for Argentina, but they have improved so much in the last two or three months. They won the Pan American Games and I think that Argentina has grown up a bit and that they caould make a good result.“
Several players from your new team, Perugia, will play at the World Cup: Russell (USA), Buti (Italy) and De Cecco (Argentina). What do you expect from them on the tournament?
„First of all, for these guys, only the possibilty to go to Rio is great. It’s a big oportunity for them to play this kind of tournament and to play it with the best players and the best teams in the world and also to play in a great atmosphere in Japan. Firstly, they should enjoy. Secondly, they need to be open minded and to learn from this experience. It’s always good to learn new things, to improve yourself to be able to play on a high level,“ Castellani concluded.
