Kenya Commercial Bank (also known as KCB) won the 2022 African Women’s Club Championship in Kélibia, Tunisia, after a 3-1 victory over Al Ahly of Egypt: 3-1 (25-18, 25-22, 11-25, 28-26) in the final. Since Kenya Prisons in 2013, the ’bankers’ are the first Kenyan club to win the continental trophy. It’s their second title in Africa, following the one in a 3-2 victory in 2006 final in Mauritius over the same opponents. It was also sweet retribution for the Kenyan team, who had lost 3-1 to Al Ahly in 2009 final in Nairobi.

Sharon Chepchumba, the opposite hitter on the winning side and one of the Kenya National Team’s biggest stars at the moment, was voted MVP.
