ARG M: Argentina start intensive World League preparation

Argentina’s men’s national team has started an intense training schedule in preparation for the FIVB World League. Setters, Luciano De Cecco, Nicolas Uriarte, Liberos, Alexis Gonzalez, Facundo Santucci, Opposite players: Ivan Castellani, Bruno Romanutti, Guillermo Garcia.

A friendly match among members of the team is scheduled for this Thursday at the Sport Centre and nearly 2,000 school children, volleyball schools and city clubs will be part of the event. The team will also participate of an exhibition show at the Miramar City Hall Sport Centre.

The men’s team will play three friendly matches against Cuba on Tuesday, May 28 and then again on May 30 prior to travelling to the USA, for the first weekend of the Intercontinental Round of the FIVB World League.

Mar del Plata has all the necessary conditions and facilities for our training for the FIVB World League,” said coach Javier Weber who will head the team for the first time this season. A press conference will be held this Tuesday at the Sport Centre facilities and will be attended by Weber, two players, City Hall Officials and representatives from the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).

The 17 players taking part in the training session in Mar del Plata include:

Setters: Luciano De Cecco, Nicolas Uriarte
Liberos: Alexis Gonzalez. Facundo Santucci
Opposite players: Ivan Castellani, Bruno Romanutti, Guillermo Garcia
Wing spikers: Facundo Conte, Rodrigo Quiroga, Cristian Poglajen, Federico Pereyra, Pablo Bengolea, Nicolas Bruno
Middle blockers: Pablo Crer, Sebastian Sole, Martin Ramos, Maximiliano Gauna
