Pressing decisively with their serves, the South Americans dominated with their blocks and floor defense giving only scattered chances to the opponents.
Brian Melgarejo and Nicolas Lazo shared the score charts for the winning side with 15 points apiece with Lazo landing four aces. German Johansen and Joaquin Gallego each with 8 points while Mexico’s Ariel Acosta and Alan Martinez each charted 7 tallies.
The winners held an 11-8 difference in the blocking department and out-served the defeated side 7-0. Both teams committed 19 unforced errors.
