This is one more step towards increasing volleyball activities all over the country with different indoor and beach volleyball events.
The opening ceremony, in this state-of-the-arts sport centre in the city of General Alvear, that opened its doors during this year, was full of recognitions, not only for both National teams but for the local talented players from San Juan and Mendoza, even some having been part of one of the many national teams. Also, the host authorities took the chance to mention that they support such development in their city.
The first match faced the Youth‘s with the Seniors‘ of San Juan province. The two top scorers where from San Juan and the National team. For the light blue – white jersey team it was Nicolás Lazo with 16 points, the same score that obtained Federico Pereyra, this time playing for San Juan team. The Youths’ won 25-13, 25-18 and 25-14 without any effort. Lazo was well sparred by the opposite player German Johansen that scored 12 points while San Juan kept making mistakes and could not find answers with their substitute players.
Then, something similar but with a stronger rival happened with the Juniors‘ facing the Seniors‘ Mendoza team, the 3-0 showed the superiority by 25-20, 25-15 and 25-21. The top scorer of the match was Gonzalo Quiroga with 17 points, followed by Gonzalo Lapera with 11 and Nicolas Giraudo with 10. At Mendoza team the top scorer was Juan Pablo Alanis, another historical player with the Argentine Jersey.
This Thursday, another double match date will complete the preliminary pool with both Argentine teams facing each other at 20.00 while prior Mendoza as host team will face their neigbhbours, San Juan. Then, from tomorrow on comes the semi-final and final matches.
