The 2016 Rio Olympics winner William Arjona set off a challenge among his compatriots who play volleyball to contribute a battle against the new coronavirus.

After the information given by many prominent medical experts and organizations across the world, saying that beard can retain droplets of COVID-19, the former setter of the Brazil Men’s Volleyball National Team, William Arjona, shaved his beard by which he was recognizable for years and challenged his compatriots who play volleyball to do the same, using hashtag #periodosembarba (beardless period).

He tagged Wallace Souza who accepted the challenge. The famous opposite hitter ”passed the ball” to Maurício Souza, Gustavo Bonatto ”Gustavão”, and Bruno Rezende ”Bruninho”. The latter also joined the challenge and we’re sure that all the other players will, too.

At this very moment, Brazil has confirmed nearly 2,000 cases of coronavirus infections of which 34 died.
