BRA W: Paula and Érika signed for new team in Brasilia, Sassá on wishlist

Paula Pequeno said she is back in the Brazilian volleyball. The Olympic champion (twice) revealed that she signed one year contract with the team from Brasilia, who is forming and wants to stabilize itself.

Although the presence of the team in next Superliga is not yet guaranteed, because it will depend on an invitation of the CBV (Brazilian Volleyball Confederation), this is the first time in her career that Paula will defend colours of a team from her home city.

 Beside her, other three names are already confirmed to play in Brasilia next season.

“I am very happy because to announce at first hand that I will play in Brasilia. Our team is already being formed,” said the receiver, also revealing the names of other players coming to the club.

“Me and Érika Coimbra confirmed, also had Veridiana (libero), Giovanna (middle blocker), we’re trying to bring Sassá and we are still on solving the setter. We need to find a setter, another middle blocker, who will give support to us and to make difference both in attack and block, ” said Paula.

Paula Pequeno spent last season in Turkey at Fenerbahce. The experienced 31 year old player also played in her career for Vôlei Futuro, Osasco and Odintsovo (Rússia).

Like Paula, Érika was also playing out of Brazil. Icon of the Brazilian team in the late 1990s and early 2000s, passed throug clubs from Italy, Poland and Azerbaijan, in addition to Brazilian Osasco, Mines and Rexona.

Although intended to be the part of Brasilia project, Sassá has already been announced as reinforcement of Polish MKS Dadrowa. The receiver of the  Olympic champion in Beijing 2008 played  last two years in Sesi, but did not have her contract renewed for next season.
