Recall that the Brazilian Volleyball Federation decided to significantly change the point-ranking system for the 2017/18 season. It will be applied only on the players with the highest number of points, while all the other players will be excluded from the ranking.
That is something which raised a lot of noise among the volleyball public in Brazil, while Sheilla Castro was the first to say something about this matter. The famous Brazilian player plans to return to volleyball next season, but she will still have to worry about the point-ranking system as she is one of the players with the highest number of points according to the current ranking.
“This rule has always been against us. It really hurts. It is a clear example of discrimination. We are punished by our own country for being the best. To exclude all the other players from the point-ranking system is great, but that should be applied to all of us. This rule also opens more space for foreigners, while it devalues the main players of our country. And it will get just worse…” said Sheilla.
