Half of the battle for the title in the 2021 Men’s Challenge Cup between Italy’s Milano and Turkey’s Ziraat went to the former. The SuperLega side beat the club from the Turkish capital by a 3-2 (22-25, 25-19, 18-25, 25-18, 15-9) at home in the 1st leg of the final.
The Frenchman Jean Patry notched 15 points for Milano. Slovenian Jan Kozamernik served 5 aces. The Dutchman Wouter Ter Maat put down 27 points for the regular season winners in the Turkish league. Such an outcome gives only slightly bigger chances to the Italian club to lift the trophy after the 2nd leg, which is scheduled for March 24.
