The negotiations about the organization of the 2022 CEV Volleyball Champions League Super Finals aren’t going in a good direction.
The Italian federation showed the most interest to organize the Super Finals of the ongoing Champions League, trying to bring the event that unites men’s and women’s finals in consecutive days and was introduced in 2019, to Milan. However, the negotiations are going slow. If they fail, according to Gian Luca Pasini, there’s a strong possibility that the Champions League finals, like the finals of other European Cups, will be played in a form of home and away matches. Such a formula hasn’t been seen for decades in the most elite club competition in Europe. First, Final Four was introduced to replace the semi-finals and finals and then Super Finals were put into action.
There were rumors that Final Six will replace the quarter-finals, which would’ve been another major change of the format, but that was abandoned.
