The PlusLiga titleholders Jastrzębski achieved a major victory over Lube in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the CEV Champions League Volley 2022 | Men. And that, they did in an away match. Thus, we’re halfway to seeing the Polish semi-final in the competition (Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle won the face-off against Dinamo Moscow by a forfeit).

It was a match between two teams that had problems with injuries. However, they were bigger in the ranks of SuperLega champions. In Jastrzębski, Ukrainian Yuriy Gladyr was missing from the starting lineup as he returned to his homeland following the war that started there, while the Frenchman Stéphen Boyer has had enough strength to play only as a substitute. On the other hand, the team from Italy was without Osmany Juantorena and Jiří Kovář. Cuban Marlon Yant was employed even though he’s injured, while Ivan Zaytsev played only one set from the start to the end.

The Czech Jan Hadrava and Tomasz Fornal scored 14 points apiece for ‘The Hawks’. Cuban Robertlandy Simón also scored 14 points, but for Lube.
