Developres Rzeszów celebrated a tough win over Vasas Óbuda Budapest in Round 4 of the 2023 CEV Women’s Volleyball Champions League.
The CEV Champions League Volleyball 2023 | Women entered the second half of the group stage. Developres were the favorites in Pool A’s clash with Vasas. Stéphane Antiga’s charges, however, gave their fans a large portion of stress. In the end, the Polish runners-up reached for a full set of points against the Hungarian side, winning 3-1. After the first set, it looked like it was going to be a very one-sided confrontation. However, Vasas put on a scare, tied at 1-1, and started the third set in a great manner. However, they later succumbed to the tangible quality of the home team’s players. With 21 points, Georgian Ann Kalandadze led the way for Developres. American Taylor Bannister scored 16 for the visitors.
Igor Gorgonzola Novara leveled off with the leaders, VakıfBank İstanbul, in Pool C’s rankings, but only provisionally. The Italian club swept Crvena Zvezda Beograd at home. The Serbian ladies had a chance to make things interesting, but they couldn’t hold a 4-5 point lead in the third set. At 20-16 for the Belgrade-based team, Novara went on a 9-2 run to end the set and the duel. The winning side was led by Turk Ebrar Karakurt (13 points). American McKenzie Adams made a 73% reception (15 digs; 27% excellent). Tara Taubner scored 11 points for Crvena Zvezda.
