The French club Tours VB was so close to making one of the biggest comebacks this season.

Tours

After they made a convincing 3-0 win in the 1st leg of the 2018 CEV Men’s Volleyball Challenge Cup – 16th Finals against Tours, at home ground, players of the Greek runners-up Olympiacos Piraeus were lost in the rematch in France. They have been swept by the rivals in three sets, but somehow got a grip in the last moment – in Golden Set, which they won by a 15-11 to advance to the 8th Finals. The game started with a huge support of Tours’ fans towards their player Nathan Wounembaina as nearly all of 2,800 spectators held the sign “No racism”. It was their answer to racial insults that Cameroonian athlete suffered from Olympiacos’ supporters in the 1st leg to which even French Volleyball Federation and country’s government officials reacted.

The Portuguese titleholders Benfica Lisboa were ruthless to the Austrian side UVC Holding Graz in the rematch as well as they beat them with another straight-set win. The Serbian opposite Milija Mrdak highlighted Benfica with 16 points (4 aces).

CEV has cleared Olympiakos of all charges.
Lots of ugly bullying against the Greeks in France.
Olympiakos has won fair and square on the taraflex.
Tours VB, the French Volleyball Federation and the french ministry of sports are sore LOSERS.
