The national team of Ukraine has been invited to compete in place of Russia at the upcoming FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship.
After the 2022 Men’s World Championship was shifted from Russia owing to the conflict in Ukraine, the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has confirmed that Poland and Slovenia will host the relocated event (the information given by the Polish Olympic Committee, yesterday), adding there’s a chance that more European countries could potentially co-host the championship at a later date.
In addition, Ukraine has been invited to replace Russia in the competition line-up as the next highest placed team in the World Ranking, based on the fact that Poland and Slovenia have already qualified for the event, making this info official too. The men’s national team of Russia won’t compete after the country was declared unable to play in any international or continental competition until further notice.
