ITA M: Incidents on court at end of Perugia vs Modena, Leal gets suspended for hitting rival player (VIDEO)

The aftermath of Game 1 of the 2021/22 Italian Men’s Volleyball Championship playoff semi-finals between Sir Safety Conad Perugia and Leo Shoes PerkinElmer Modena is quite a suspension of one of the key players of the latter team.

After the incident on the court at the end of the playoff semi-final match between Perugia and Modena at PalaBarton last night, the Sports Judge of the SuperLega Crdem Banca marked the main culprit. Cuban-Brazilian Yoandy Leal was punished with the penalty of 4 matches of disqualification for violently lashing out against the players of Perugia. The outside hitter hit one of the players of the ’Block Devils’ and pushed another (even though he wasn’t the only player involved in pushing and shoving but was the most aggressive). His compatriot Wilfredo León intervened and drag Leal into the locker room, preventing an even more furious reaction from the Modena player.

Thus, the reckless gesture that was a result of a dispute with Dragan Travica during the match will sideline Leal in the entire series of semi-finals and perhaps the first match of the eventual final, and deprive Modena of one of its main weapons in the fight for the title.
