Renaud-Herpe

Renaud Herpe

Renaud, at 37 years old, you still seem to have the fire in the legs and the desire to play.

– The desire I have not lost that’s for sure. As for the legs, sometimes they are good, sometimes less (laughs). This season, I feel good, I do not have large problems.

Narbonne is having a respectable season, you are currently seventh.

This is the best performance since the club joined the Ligue AM. We are happy but the end of the championship is still far away. The league is very balanced. We’ll have to fight until the end of the season to keep our place in the top eight.

The playoffs are in sight.

Yes, it is the secret goal. We are all aware that we have the means, the team is doing good things. We are really excited to get there. We know it will not be easy, because it is a rather special championship this year. Apart from Tours, every weekend, we see surprises.

Many applicants for a ticket to the top 8 this season.

We see changes in ranking fast enough. Nothing is decided yet.

Guillermo Falasca was a good addition to the club?

The means we had were well spent. We also have the coach (Giampaolo Medei, ed) who is powerful, who knows the group in all aspects, physical, psychological and technical. We worksa well every day, and it shows on the field.

You can approach the match against Toulouse with confidence.

We must be careful. Usually when teams are with their back to the wall, they play the best.

Is Coupe de France a goal?

We knew it could be an opportunity for the group to test ourselves. Now we are in the last four. It is already a historic result. We still want to dream. Everything is possible.

Narbonne is your last challenge as a professional volleyball player. Do you plan to end your career at the end of the season?

I do not know yet. I said that Narbonne will be my last club. I returned for non-sporting reasons, to work in a family business. I have the opportunity to continue to play volleyball at a high level in the club. This is a new challenge and a great pride in being able to finish my career at home, to close the loop. For now, I will end this season, and then discuss about the next season. The desire is still there. If the club agrees that I should leave, why not. If there are ambitions and the club wants to continue, I would like to participate in this growth. I want to share the experience I have accumulated abroad for twelve years, in big European clubs.
