As it was announced by the media in France more than a month ago, Paris Volley will be severely sanctioned for the financial mismanagement.

All media in France transmitted the news that title contenders in this season’s national men’s volleyball championship Ligue A, Paris Volley, got sanctioned for the financial mismanagement by the Commission of Help and Control of Professional Clubs (Commission d’aide et de contrôle des clubs professionnels – CACCP).

The third-placed side in the 2017/18 Ligue A, at the moment, was banned from engaging new players until the end of the season and, which is even more important, from participating in the playoffs! Also, the CACCP administratively relegated Paris to the lower rank, but for now, only as a precautionary measure. This particular measure will be again reviewed by CACCP in June.

The reason why the team from the French capital was sanctioned was a disparity between the declared payroll (460,000 euros, the 8th in the Ligue A) and a payroll calculated by the CACCP. Recall that media initially reported that Paris declared a lower payroll.

“It is a bookkeeping problem. We will obviously appeal the decision on our exclusion from the playoffs,” Paris Volley president Michel Rougeyron told AFP.

He added the CACCP decision was questionable and that the club waits for the continuation of the procedure with serenity. He also said if the CACCP decision stays after the appeal, the nine-time champions of France will turn to the higher instance such as the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (Le Comité National Olympique et Sportif Français – CNOSF).
