FRA M: Despite having 2 players with more than 90% reception, Poitiers lose Game 1 of quarterfinals vs. Ajaccio

GFC Ajaccio Volley-Ball opened their 2017/18 French men’s volleyball championship Ligue A playoff campaign with a five-set win over Stade Poitevin Beach Volley (Poitiers).

The fourth-seed Ajaccio justified the role of the favorites against No.5 Poitiers in Game 1 of the 2017/18 Ligue A playoff quarterfinals, 3-2 (25-23, 23-25, 26-28, 25-21, 15-12) and came to one win from advancing to the semifinals.

The Argentinean José Luis González topped Ajaccio with 24 points. Libero Jean-François Exiga made 92% reception (12 digs, 1 error, 42% excellent), while Thimotée Carle also stood out in this segment with 82% (17 digs, 18% excellent). The Canadian Brett Dailey recorded 5 kill blocks of 17 that Ajaccio made as a team.

The Moroccan Mohamed Al Hachdadi tallied 30 points for Poitiers. The Serbian Novica Bjelica added 7 kill blocks. Libero Frédéric Barais recorded 96% reception (27 digs, 19% excellent)! Baptiste Geiler was also amazing in this segment, making 92% (25 digs, 1 error, 16% excellent).
