BR Volleys set off the title defense campaign in the 1. Bundesliga with a four-set win against the home side of Netzhoppers. Driven by the returnee to the team, the French veteran setter Pierre Pujol (MVP of the match) and American rookie Kyle Ensing who scored 19 points, including 4 aces, the team from the German capital won by a 3-1 (20-25, 25-13, 25-18, 25-17).

With the exception of the third set, the top division newcomers Heitec Volleys Eltmann did not manage to put vice-champions VfB Friedrichshafen under pressure. The home side swept rivals by a 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-23) thanks to Macedonian Nikola Gjorgiev, who tallied 16 points and continued to show that his good shape in the 2019 EuroVolley was not just a temporary flash.

The opposite hitter Jannik Pörner from SVG Lüneburg highlighted Saturday’s matches with 26 points against Volleyball Bisons Bühl (3-1).
