Matteo Martino
Matteo Martino may easily write off the last season. While wearing the jersey of Jastrzębski Węgiel he did not find understanding not only with the coach, but also with part of the players. As a result he spent a lot of time on the bench.
Still, he did not rule out the option to stay in Poland, but in another club. AZS Politechnika Warszawska tried to take advantage of his decision, but in May the offer came from Marmi Lanza Verona.
Several weeks later, the Verona lineup was completed and the legendary Andrea Giani, coach of Marmi Lanza, stressed that he wants to build an ambitious team, who’s greatest strength should be the collective, so transfer rumors of Martino were stopped.
Now, powerful new sponsor, “Calzedonia Group” is supporting the team led by Giani, who, therefore, decided to return to talks with Martino and his agent, Paolo Buongiorno.
This time the result was much better, because the two sides have reached an agreement and Jastrzębski Węgiel receiver will defend colors of Verona in the next season.
