The 40th encounter between big rivals of the Italian women’s club volleyball, Prosecco Doc Imoco Volley Conegliano and Igor Gorgonzola Novara, went in the favor of the former.
Already after the first two rounds of the 2021/22 Serie A1, it was time for the ‘classicissima’ of the Italian women’s club volleyball between Imoco and Novara – the 40th episode of a derby that only in 2021 saw these two going against each other for three trophies: Scudetto, Italian Cup, and Super Cup. Imoco, thanks to tonight’s 3-0 (25-22, 30-28, 25-23) win, collected the maximum number of points after three rounds, topping the charts with nine points (just as Unet E-Work Busto Arsizio). This was the 68th consecutive victory of ‘The Panthers’, who have not lost for almost two years now (since December 12, 2019) in all competitions in which they play.
Novara squandered four set balls in the second set and the lead of 7-2 in the third set. With 23 points, Paola Egonu led Imoco to a win. Bulgarian Hristina Vuchkova set up six blocks. The libero Lara Caravello made 75 % reception (12 digs, 67 % perfect), replacing the missing Monica De Gennaro in the best possible way.
