ITA W: Scandicci achieve first win in their new home to provisionally top charts

Even though as nominal guests, Savino Del Bene Scandicci debuted in their new hall with a hard-fought victory over Il Bisonte Firenze in Round 13 of the 2021/22 Italian Women’s Volleyball Championship.

Tonight’s local derby between nominal hosts Il Bisonte and Scandicci, announced in Italian media as the Florentine volleyball party, valid for Round 13 of the 2021/22 Serie A, ended with a victory of the latter. It was the first match between the two neighboring clubs in a newly-opened hall, PalaWanny, which the two teams will share as the home ground for the rest of the season and likely after that. As guests, Scandicci have debuted in the venue in Florence. Thus, the team commanded by Massimo Barbolini recovered after the defeat against Vero Volley Monza and provisionally settled at the top of the charts.

Russian-Italian youngster Ekaterina Antropova highlighted Scandicci with 18 points. Sara Alberti set up 6 blocks, while Marina Lubian served 4 aces. Dominican Brenda Castillo made 80% reception (25 digs, 2 errors, 52% perfect).

Unet E-Work Busto Arsizio swept Bosca S.Bernardo Cuneo and moved up to 4th place in the standings.
