In an electrifying sold-out event in Bologna, Sir Susa Vim Perugia clinched their fourth title in the prestigious Del Monte® Coppa Italia, overcoming Mint Vero Volley Monza with a stunning 3-1 victory. The final scores of the sets were 22-25, 25-21, 25-15, 25-23, showcasing a remarkable comeback after an initial setback.
Despite losing the first set, Perugia made a formidable comeback, thanks to notable performances by Plotnytskyi, who was crowned the Del Monte® MVP of the event, Semeniuk with an impressive 18 points, and Flavio contributing a solid 16 points.
The match began with Monza’s Loeppky leading an early surge, but Perugia quickly regained control. Szwarc, scoring 22 points, and Galassi, with 12 points and 4 aces, stood out for Monza. However, their efforts were not enough to withstand the onslaught led by the combined force of Perugia’s Plotnytskyi, Semeniuk, and Ben Tara.
The second and third sets were dominated and won by Perugia. In a nail-biting fourth set, Perugia initially fell behind but rallied back, with Solé’s serving turning the tide in their favor. The match reached its climax when Ben Tara, despite suffering cramps, and Herrera led the team to secure the final points needed for victory.
The win also marked a significant achievement for Coach Lorenzetti, who celebrated his Coppa Italia third triumph. Over 9000 spectators witnessed this thrilling match, which added another prestigious title to Sir Susa Vim Perugia’s illustrious history in the Coppa Italia.
