As it was expected, the most uncertainty in quarterfinals was seen in the match between the home team of Energy T.I. Diatec Trentino and Copra Piacenza.
Trentino won it in a tie-break after trailing 2-0 in sets – 3-2 (24-26, 19-25, 37-35, 25-21, 16-14). Piacenza dropped not only the lead in sets, but also a huge advantage in the fifth set – 4-1 and 7-5.
In the rerun of the last season’s quarterfinals, Sir Safety Perugia defeated Calzedonia Verona at home court, in straight sets.
The presence of Slobodan Kovač, current head coach of the Iranian national team and coach of Perugia for three seasons, culminating in the 2014 championship final, brought luck to the home team.
Aleksandar Atanasijević was the best in Perugia with 19, while in Verona, Taylor Sander scored 11.
Modena Volley (Nemanja Petrić and Luca Vettori 14 each) and Cucine Lube Banca Marche Treia (Simone Parodi 15) also advanced into the Final Four in Bologna.
