The match was actually very close with URBINO trying to profit of the experience of some well-decorated players and SCHWERINER SC performing extremely well from the serving line. The hosts started by immediately pressuring their opponents but SCHWERINER SC did not let it go that easily.
The guests from Germany performed well especially in the third set where Antonietta Vallese, Valdone Petrauskaite and Chiara Negrini all had problems to control the serves of their opponents in blue jerseys. The fourth set was played at a very quick pace with setter Stefania Dall’Igna anchoring URBINO, SCHWERINER SC responding with Tanja Joachim but Petrauskaite and Lise Van Hecke – best scorers in the end with 23 points apiece – paced URBINO along the way to their first CL win.
