Dominican Republic Stays Undefeated

The Dominican Republic continued their winning streak on the third day of the XVII Pan American Men’s Volleyball Cup, defeating Guatemala 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-22). The Dominicans excelled in all areas, leading in attacks (49-34), blocks (5-4), and serves (4-3). Henry Tapia led the scoring for the Dominican Republic with 23 points, with Hector Cruz adding 13. For Guatemala, Yeferson Zavala and Andy Blanco each scored 10 points.

Canada Triumphs Over the United States

Defending champions Canada narrowly defeated the United States in a thrilling five-set match, winning 3-2 (19-25, 25-20, 25-27, 25-23, 15-9). Canada outperformed in attacks (62-52), blocks (9-4), and serves (6-4). Jesse Elser topped the score sheet for Canada with 21 points, supported by Isaac Heslinga and Jackson Howe with 17 points each. Michael Marshman was the top scorer for the USA with 15 points, followed by Gabriel García with 13.

Cuba Overcomes Peru

After dropping the first set, Cuba rallied to defeat Peru 3-1 (16-25, 25-17, 25-17, 25-19). Cuba led in attacks (54-44) and blocks (11-5), though Peru had the edge in serves (5-3). Carlos Santana was Cuba’s top scorer with 12 points, with Victor Andreu and Alexis Wilson contributing 11 and 10 points, respectively. Eduardo Romay scored 20 points for Peru, with Maikel Jaramillo adding 10.

Chile Claims First Victory Against Puerto Rico

Chile secured their first win of the tournament by beating Puerto Rico 3-1 (27-25, 28-26, 17-25, 25-22). Despite the loss, Puerto Rico outshone Chile in attacks (54-53), blocks (10-8), and serves (3-2). Vicente Parraguirre led Chile’s offense with 16 points, followed by Dusan Bonacic with 15 and Gabriel Araya with 13. Klistan Lawrence was Puerto Rico’s standout performer with 17 points, supported by Ismael Alomar and Jonathan Rodríguez with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
