Julio Velasco: “I am happy. We lost a set. The team was tired. Puerto Rico was very motivated and more aggressive. We had to get back into the game progressively. We needed to play games before the South American Championships. I would have liked to play Cuba, another good team with a different style, but overall it was a great experience. I am happy with how our block-defense system did, the ability to play youngsters like Bruno Lima and how Martin Ramos played as the opposite. This is the base team for the South American Championships”.
In the match for the third place, Cuba defeated Canada 3-1 (25-18, 25-21, 22-25, 25-23).
For the fifth place USA outplayed Dominican republic 3-2 (15-25, 25-22, 20-25, 27-25, 15-13).
Venezuela barely defeated Mexico in the match for the seventh place with 3-2 (22-25, 25-16, 23-25, 25-17, 15-13).
