PAC W: USA and Brazil scored first wins in the Dominican Republic

The 17th edition of the Women’s Pan American Cup 2018 has started and USA and Brazil already scored their first wins.

Defending champions USA lost the opening set against Trinidad & Tobago and then scored a victory of 3-1 (21-25, 25-15, 25-22, 25-15). 

Simone Lee led the winners with 14 points while Aiyana Whitney, came off the bench to start in the second set and scored 13 points. Sarah Wilhite and Grace Mallory McCage each scored 9 points.

Veteran Krystle Esdelle was the top scorer of the match with 16 points for Trinidad & Tobago, while Darlene Ramdin and Sinead Jack each finished with 10 points.

In the second match of the day, Brazil defeated Mexico in straight sets (25-21, 25-19, 25-17) thanks to Bruna Honorio da Silva who scored 16 points, Francynne Aparecido Jacintho 12 points and Thaisa Daher Menezes 11 points. On the other side, Andrea Rangel scored 13 points while Samantha Bricio finished with 10 points for Mexico.
