The match starring Slovenia and Bulgaria was going to determine the side likely to finish first in the Pool and the home heroines started out strong going up by 8 points at the second technical time-out before cashing the first set with a massive 25-14. Things did not change much in set 2 where Slovenia set the pace of the game with real confidence and the home side could eventually party in the end after scoring yet another win in straight sets.
In the first match of the day Romania took three valuable points by cruising past Israel in three sets (25-14, 25-14, and 25-17) and remain in contention for second place before Croatia – that had upset Bulgaria on Saturday – also claimed its second win in the tournament by edging Slovakia 3:1 (25-18, 23-25, 25-23 and 25-22).
