The case of an incident between the coach and the player in the Serbian men’s volleyball Championship came into the hands of the police. The President of the country's national federation also reacted.

A few days after the incident in which the Niš head coach Dragan Svetozarević hit a player of his team Miloš Antonić dissatisfied with his play, the local police got involved. That’s because the hospital to which Antonić came to seek treatment for the injury informed the law enforcement.

Although there’s still no information on whether some disciplinary proceedings will be initiated, the president of the Serbian Volleyball Federation (OSSRB) Zoran Gajić advised reconciliation to both sides.

“I had a conversation with the player and advised him to reconcile with the coach. Both sides promised me they will do that. Hey, we are from Balkans, people fight in a pub but become best friends afterward,” a former legendary head coach of the Yugoslavia National Team stated.

He didn’t mention anything about the disciplinary procedures but the OSSRB rules say that unsportsmanlike conduct, as well as causing a fight, commotion, or participation in them during the match are to be sanctioned by the suspension.

In the meantime, Niš terminated the contract with the player and imposed only a fine on the head coach. This is the angle from which the incident can be seen more clearly…
