The 33-year-old Dominican Republic National Team member, De la Cruz, who surprisingly didn’t sign for any club for 2020/21, decided to give herself a bit more time before starting to play competitive matches.
After finishing the season in Russia and having problems to return to her home country due to the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic, De la Cruz received several tempting offers for the ongoing season, among them was the one from Brazil’s Itambé/Minas. However, one-time MVP of the Pan-American Cup, NORCECA Championship, and Pan-American Games will be out of professional volleyball until 2021.
According to Bruno Voloch, De la Cruz will leave for the United States in February and will play in the newly formed league. It’s planned that she’ll stay there for two months.
