WCHY W: China cruise past Hosts Thailand in a heavy contest of heights

World No. 1 China fought hardly against host Thailand and more than 1500 excited spectators to pull off a straight sets victory (25-18, 25-5, 25-19) in the round of 16 at FIVB Girls' U18 World Championship encounter at Chatchi Hall.

Heavy favourite world leaders and 2011 silver medallists set up a new quarterfinal campaign to play for the top eight positions, while Thailand fight for a suitable position in the 9 to 16 standings.

The towering Xinyue Yuan (199 cm) played again on of her best using the central and wing attacks above the opponent block to score a tally of 18 points as China’s best scorers followed by her teammate Mingyuan Hu who scored 17 points including 3 ace services.

Thai’s attacker Jiraporn Chaymon scored only 7 points but came as her team scorer.
